Dear Media Specialists and Librarians:
Thank you so much for your attention! I wanted to craft a specific message about my assemblies for Media Specialists and Librarians like YOU because I love to read and like you, I understand how important reading is for people—not just for education, career opportunities, and fun but also for increased brain power!
One of the things I do during my reading assembly programs (both the “I Love To Read” as well as the Seuss-themed “A Cat And A Hat) is really convey to the students that reading strengthens your brain in the same way that muscles in your arms and legs are strengthened by physical activity.
Moreover, I take a great deal of pride in the fact that after my programs, media specialists and librarians see a dramatic increase in books being checked out of their library! Reading is FUN and with all of the digital distractions these days, I think it’s easy for kids to lose track of just how rewarding reading can be.
While my programs are a feast for the eyes, the real purpose is to get kids to think – to realize their responsibility in what they want out of life. Happiness and success is not a birthright but rather something one has to work towards.
The children will be involved in my assemblies in fun ways that help illustrate the points I make, and in fact the entire audience is involved, even during the fun recap that I do at the end, serving to illustrate to the faculty watching that the kids did in fact absorb what I communicated to them.
An important point I need to stress: I offer different versions of each assembly topic because developmentally, a kindergarten-level child sees and comprehends things differently than a fifth grader. Therefore, if your school is able to split the student population into two assemblies, I am able to reach them on their level with different magic effects, different concepts, and even different ways of interacting with them on their level. Obviously, if the school only has time for one assembly, I will deliver a program that walks the line for all ages, so either way, I can guarantee you a great event!
