The Wacky Science Show

An Award-Winning School Assembly Program About Science!

Wacky Pic, wacky science showI’ll let you in on a secret: when I was growing up, I didn’t have much interest in science. It wasn’t until I was an adult and discovered science could be fun through TV shows like “Mythbusters and others. Once I found out how much fun science could be, I was hooked!

I quickly realized that the best way to truly ‘reach’ kids with a science assembly program was to make it like something from a cartoon: the set design and backdrop and banners for this assembly program look like it’s straight from Jimmy Neutron! More than that, the science experiments during this show are hysterical fun! There are contests, sound effects, music, comedy, LOTS of opportunities for kids to volunteer, and more.

During “Wacky Science,” kids take a trip to the circus where the World’s Strongest Kid demonstrates the awesome power of levers. Lessons in science safety and the Scientific Method are illustrated with a crazy balloon experiment and the story of Cinderella (trust me, it’s all science!). Four students become Stinky Dinosaurs to teach your kids about chemical indicators and reactions. Kids get to vote whether they want to see a teacher’s head SHRINK or get HUGE with an amazing optical illusion. Middle school kids remain suspended in the air with NO support using the concept of balanced forces. That’s just a sample of the goofy stunts in this school assembly!

If all of this sounds a little nutty, it’s because I go crazy to make sure the kids have the time of their lives learning all of these cool science experiments!

More than just whiz, bang, poof and pop, “The Wacky Science Show” puts science in the hands of nearly a dozen onstage volunteers. With a focus on science with everyday objects, I play the role of Dr. Science as I make the Scientific Method easy to understand. This is the only show to ever win Dow Chemical’s Touch-Tech Award for excellence in hands-on science education!

“Cris Johnson just performed 2 assemblies of his “Wacky Science Show” at our elementary school. The PTA is always in search of new STEM assemblies for the student body and Cris did an awesome job of tailoring the assemblies in a grade-appropriate manner (prek-2nd grade, and 3rd-5th grade). The teachers raved about how fun and educational the shows were. As an added bonus, he selected at least a dozen children at each of the assemblies so the kids were thoroughly engaged. We look forward to booking Cris again with one of his other shows!”

Thanks again!

Science 4

IMPORTANT: THIS IS NOT A MAGIC SHOW!!There are other so-called science shows offered by magicians that are nothing more than magic tricks with a pasted-on, weak science message. While a lot of my assembly programs do feature magic, this is not one of them. Simply put, the science is amazing by itself, so I make sure science is the star of this show! “The Wacky Science Show” is an actual science-based riot! And while the students cheer the crazy antics, the teachers love these lessons:

  • The Scientific Method
  • Physical, Mathematical & Life Sciences
  • Air Pressure
  • Acid/Base Indicators
  • Everyday Science
  • Stinky Dinosaurs
  • Liquids, Solids, Gases
  • Science Safety

  • Connections between Science & Technology
  • Chemical Reactions
  • Centripetal & Centrifugal Forces
  • Additional Topics for Middle Schools:
    • Kinetic & Potential Energy
    • Psychology & Social Science Experiments
    • Balanced Forces
    • And much more

wacky science showKooky            Yup.
Nutty?            A lot.
Educational?   Yeah, it’s that too!

But “Wacky Science” is also a nationally ranked, no holds barred, laugh riot that makes science easy to understand. Nearly a dozen students participate on stage in wacky and off-the-wall, hands-on lessons while discovering that simple household items can be used to perform quirky & crazy science experiments. Loads of surprises, comedy & goofy sound effects combine in this perfect complement to learning The Scientific Method.

The “Wacky Science” school assembly is guaranteed to “bring the funny” and be one of the best elementary based science shows your students will ever see!
